By George I’ve Got It

After years of detecting I finally decided to upgrade to the Minelab E-TRAC and let me tell you, it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I now wonder how many great coins I missed over the years while detecting in trashy areas that were just too hard to work in.

The other day I decided to head out to a spot that’d absolutely littered with molten lead pieces that make detecting almost impossible, unless of course you have the technology of an E-TRAC at your fingertips. This site was the location of one of the very first stores in South Australia, and there was also a blacksmith and stables attached to one side, which is probably why there is so much lead around.

I knew it wasn’t going to be an easy day but this site had produced some great finds including cartwheel pennies, trader’s tokens and some nice early silvers, so if I was going to find anything there was a good chance it would be exceptional.
